About the Studio
Nestled in Missoula, Montana, my workshop hums with the rhythm of a time-honored craft. Through skillful hands, creative joinery and deep intention, I build modern heritage furniture imbued with elegance and animated by life.
My design approach is unique and personal; a story worked in wood, born from a childhood spent in Ohio’s verdant ravines and the boundless skies of my Montana home. Each piece is a collaboration, an intimate conversation between the craftsman and client, woven into a narrative in grain that’s destined to be loved, cared for, and passed down for generations.
Together let's create an heirloom that speaks to your legacy, a reflection of your own unique story with whispers of mountains, forests, rivers and days to come.
My journey into woodoworking began with studies in forestry at the University of Montana. I immediately fell in love with the area's vast, dramatic landscapes, and with my passion for rock climbing as a vehicle, I embarked on years of traveling and climbing throughout the western US. To support this, I worked as a carpenter, but not long after found myself seeking deeper engagement in the work and material. As part of the pursuit, I studied at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine, and later the College of the Redwoods fine woodworking program in California. Learning the James Krenov way, I delved deep into the art of woodworking, absorbing his teachings and philosophy. Krenov's influence has been instrumental in my evolution as a craftsman and educator. Likewise, my wife, Kelly, has been a continuous source of support and inspiration, always urging me to question what is possible.
